Tony Glenville Resurrects the Art of Fashion Illustration

While fashion illustrations aren’t necessarily of discussion after the actual fashion is created it its primitive three dimensional shape; yes they’re very much essential but they’re still very beautiful. Tony Glenville, creative director at the London College of Fashion, stuffs hundreds of RECENT fashion illustrations (hmm, very informative and cutting edge of him I must say).

From the Introduction: “The art of the contemporary fashion illustrator can beseen as defying the times – an anarchronism in this age of the digital photograph, instant internet communication, and technology-driven creative processes.” “We are currently rediscovering craft and technique and seeking to preserve skills–such as drawing from life at speed–that were in danger of disappearing. Fashion Illustration is an art based simply on the skill of the hand and the eye.”
