River Island: The Fashion Takeover.

Besides my mixture of random photos for today (hella random—trust). The focus of the slideshow is River Island, Rihanna’s Spring/Summer 2014 Collection. I’m not sure if any of you fashion mavens seen her collection for last season, but this woman has seriously taken her new craft seriously.

As a cultural fashion icon, we all are aware that Rihanna can dress—she’s impeccable, sexy, sophisticated, edgy (need I say more?). And after years of public appearances, public admiration and serious store sell-outs of ‘Rihanna look-alike Fashion’; this woman has FINALLY decided to launch her own line. Be it, her popularity, her super-fame-influence, or maybe her new found love; in either regard, this woman has embarked on a line that is not only trendy, sophisticated, but classic—-current, fashionable for the time. Something many pop-singer designers can’t own up to (cough, cough: JLO).

Although last season was regarded as ‘mainstream’–retail-appropriate’ fashion, this season is anything but. It may take it’s influences from the 90s era (an era where she was a child/pre-teen), and may steal some ideas from street fashion, but she has combined several influences in her own Mod-Rihanna-Kind-Of-Fashion. Something that is both marketable, and fashionable. Kudos to the Queen of the Roc.
